Artist Biography
Paolo Saccheri. Santa Margherita Ligure (Italia), 1964.
He began taking pictures when he was 12 years old with the camera of his father, a colour chemist and artisan fabric printmaker.
The colours of Liguria and those of the artisan workshop of the father with its smells, brought him to develop a visual calling, poetic and practical at the same time.
At the age of 26 he went to the Istituto Europeo di Design in Milan and attended a yearly course for photo-reportage and naturalistic photography. In the following years he worked in Italy and abroad for different photo agencies.
Beyond his profession, he always felt the manual work as a form of expression, either doing ceramics, developing his own b/w films or repairing analog cameras.
His stronger contact with art was inside Galleria Studio 44 of Genova where he was in charge of communication and of organization of exhibitions in Italy and abroad.
Living in Lanzarote made possible the meeting of all the aspects of his personality, that brought to life a unique and personal work.
Artist statement
It is up to us to find the beauty that surrounds us.
Without having to use words, but through a camera I began as a child to freely investigate the world around me. Years later I began a long investigation in black and white in the historic center of Genoa where I lived, recounting the strong contradictions and diversity of society. This work evolves through color with more evanescent notes, connecting the causes of our feelings with the lived reality.
My life in Lanzarote brings with it a transcendent impact that takes me to the blue of Cyanotype, to enter a new poetic world, where I connect my images to the Earth. The focus of my work in Prussian Blue is to stimulate a state of harmony in the audience by connecting with the unseen beauty.
Biografía artística
Paolo Saccheri. Santa Margherita Ligure (Italia), 1964.
